This video, though not of our chorus, gives you a taste of what it is like to be a part of this great artform, and this community.
This is the legendary 12-time International Chorus Champions, the Vocal Majority from Dallas, TX, a chorus which established the gold standard for excellence in choral singing in the barbershop style.
From southern California, here is the 2010 International Chorus Champion Westminster Chorus in an impromptu performance singing a David Phelps arrangement of "Oh Love, That Will Not Let Me Go" in the Petrikirche, a Protestant church (start of construction 1322) in Dortmund, Germany - a place famed for its acoustics.
All you need to make this kind of music are four voices. Listen to one of the world's best, Crossroads, 2009 International Barbershop Quartet Champion singing David Wright's arrangement of "That Lucky Old Sun" from their gold medal-winning set at the 2009 Competition held in Anaheim, CA.
Crossroads was the guest quartet at the Northland Chorus' 48th Annual Show in April, 2012, where this song brought the full house, Sault Ste. Marie audience to its feet!
Westminster Chorus -
Most barbershop choruses sing a wide variety of material, often incorporating soloists and other musical embellishments which, in this case, includes beatboxing! None are more accomplished at this youthful approach to high-level choral singing than the 2010 International Champion Westminster Chorus singing this cool arrangement of the Ben Folds song: "Still Fighting It". These young men are constantly challenging the old stereotype that Barbershop is just old men singing old songs.
